  • We try to pre-teach the teacher on what works best with our child.

  • Going in to middle school will be different, but our son is looking forward to it. This will be new for all of us to know how to transition from elem. to m.s.

  • We e-mail the teachers and let them know what has been going on with our child. If something has changed we tell them what works best and how to handle the situation.

  • My son goes to extended year and is mostly in the same classroom all the time, so it isn't necessary to worry as much about transition.

Any additional comments?  THANK YOU for completing this survey!

  • With school starting, you can tell that the stress starts in with the whole routine of things. It usually takes a few weeks before things settle down or at least we hope it does. Mon, 8/20/07 6:30 AM
  • I am the stepfather of a high functioning autism, with three other children in our family this is a difficult task since I do not truly understand autism. Thu, 8/9/07 7:46 AM
  • School is hard enough so the routine has to be the same. We do a few things differently for school (like meals and bed time) but otherwise it is business as usual.
